Welcome Zachary Brooks Jones

He's here! Zachary was born on Wednesday, August 27th at 6:39pm. He weighed (if you can believe it) 10lbs 6oz, and was 21 5/8" long. What a big baby! I was in labor for about 9 hours, most of it was with an epidural, so I was able to sleep a little. I only had to push for 12 minutes, 3 contractions and he was out! Everyone was kind of stunned at how big he was, even the doctor! They took him to the other side of the room, where the scale and blankets were. They were doing the apgar test and cleaning him up when they noticed that when he wasn't crying, he was grunting a lot and his breathing was rapid. We heard bits and pieces, and then heard one of the nurses call down to the NICU. That had us worried, okay, it had us FRANTIC! They assured us that it was common, and they were only taking him as a precaution. We would get him back in 4 hours if everything went well. I had a few minutes to myself while Mike went out to the waiting room to tell our families. I cried, and then I prayed. About 20 minutes later, my nurse came in and said that everything was fine, it was just transitional, and Zachary was on his way back down to us. What a great God we have! We visited with our family for a few hours, and then we transferred to our permanent room to get some rest. I was feeling great that night, but now I figure it's because the epidural probably hadn't worn off all the way. When I woke up Thursday  morning, it felt like I had been beaten up. All of my muscles were sore! I guess that's what I get for having a 10lb baby! While we were in recovery, it kind of became the joke on our floor with the nurses. They would come in and say "So this is the 10lb baby I've been hearing about!" He doesn't fit in newborn diapers, they couldn't fasten them around his belly. They had to get him some size 1's. We came home yesterday afternoon, and since then we have been resting and trying to catch up on some sleep. Thank goodness my mom is here! She had been wonderful! Now for some pictures:

Here's the proud big sister (Emily was still a little too young to come in, when I get some pictures of her with Zachary, I'll post them):

My sister-in-law, Andi, took this picture of his feet, it is one of my favorites:

Another one of the big sister with Zachary at home:

We are so blessed with 3 beautiful children! We are excited (and a little nervous) to start the adventure of having 3!

First Day Of School

I'm finally getting a chance to sit down and write this post! Today was the first day of kindergarten for Chloe, what an exciting day! My best friend came out this morning to help us see her off on the bus, and since my mom is here visiting to help out with Zachary, she was there too. If they weren't with me, I probably would have been crying the whole time. I was up early this morning, before anyone else, so I was able to have a good cry then. Chloe couldn't wait to get out the door, or get on the bus.

She seemed so little getting on and sitting in her seat.

When I got her off the bus, she was talking non-stop about everything that she did today. I loved it!

In other news, Mike and I are leaving tomorrow morning for the hospital. It hasn't really sunk in yet that sometime tomorrow we will have a baby boy! We think we'll be home sometime on Friday, so when I get a chance (Ha!) I will post some pictures.

It's Almost Time!

I had my final appointment yesterday with my doctor. How do I know this you ask? Because I scheduled an induction for next week! As many of you know, I am so ready to have this baby. At my appointment, I found out that I am now 3cm dilated and then she asked if I had considered being induced. I think I replied a little too quickly saying "I would LOVE to be induced!" They won't take me any earlier than a week before my due date, which would be this Monday. But, Chloe starts Kindergarten on Tuesday and I would not miss that if I can help it. So, unless little Zachary decides to come into the world on his own, I will be admitted to the hospital next Wednesday morning to move things along a little bit. I've been having contractions, but not regular, so who knows, he may be here before then! I will keep you all posted!

**Update On Previous Post**

Okay, it wasn't a full nap. It was only about 30 minutes long. But that's okay, I'll take what I can get! :-)

So, some of you may remember my post last week about Emily not taking naps anymore. Well, today, I put her up in her room with the gate up like I have been doing in hopes that she will fall asleep. After about 10 minutes, I noticed that it was quiet and I thought to myself, "Could it be? After a week and a half, could she be taking a nap?" I snuck up the stairs and peeked in her doorway to find this:

She was so tired that she fell asleep next to the gate in the doorway, on the hard wood floor! Of course I had to get a picture before I moved her into her bed, which I did....and she didn't wake up! Looks like I'm going to take a nap today, woo hoo! Night night!

Chloe's New Look

Since Chloe is starting Kindergarten next week (can you believe it?!??!) we decided to get her hair cut for the big day. We were going to donate it to Locks of Love, but it wasn't long enough.

This is what she looked like before:

And this is what she looks like now:

She loves her new haircut, I think she looks so much older now. After she got it done, we had a nice lunch at Chick-Fil-A and then Chloe and Emily got to ride the Carousel.

We had such a nice day today! When we got home, I got specific instructions from Chloe to put these pictures on the computer so all of my friends can see them. She wanted to make sure I blogged about it...too funny!

Baby Update and more...

So I had an appointment with my doctor yesterday and I got some good news. I'm dilated to 2 cm and was told that I could go into labor any day now! Yippee! I've been having contractions but they are irregular and they always stop. I've been told that I can't go into labor until Sunday or later because my mom comes up late Saturday night so she will be here to help with the girls.

Now for the "more" part. It has been a rough couple of days around here...I think Emily has given up her naps! Isn't she a little too young for this? She's not even 2 yet! It all started on Tuesday when my good friend and her son came over to visit. I thought she was just too excited to sleep because she could hear us downstairs. No big deal, I just gave up and brought her down to play. Well, as the days passed, with no one here visiting, she refused to fall asleep. She will go into her room (with the gate at the door since she's in the toddler bed now) and play somewhat quietly, but she won't get in her bed to sleep anymore. The reason why it has been rough, is because I'm now at the point where I need a nap everyday, at least for an hour. I don't feel very comfortable falling asleep, even if it's a light sleep, while Emily is up. So, if you see me out and about, you'll know why I'm staring into space glassy-eyed.

I've been holding fast to a scripture verse that my friend Brooke posted on her blog a few days ago. It's Philippians 4:13: Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who make me who I am.

Emily gets "Guck"

Yesterday evening started out to be a usual Friday evening. Although we did take the girls for some ice cream after dinner, mommy was craving a chocolate soft serve ice cream cone from Twin Kiss....Yum!! We got home and let them play for a little before bedtime, hopefully to get the sugar rush out of their system. Well, it didn't work very well for Emily. We usually put the girls down for bed between 7pm and 7:30pm. Last night it was 7:30pm, and Chloe went right to sleep (which is unusual for her). We Thought that Emily went right to sleep too, until we heard her talking and laughing to herself at 8:30pm. Mike went upstairs to check on her, just to make sure she didn't need a diaper change. She was fine, just awake! My bedtime rolls around, which was at 10pm, and as I reach the top of the stairs I hear "Uh oh! Mama, Guck!" coming from Emily's closed door. She must've heard me coming up the stairs. Then I hear "Ohhhhh Gosh! Mama Off!" (she's been saying oh gosh a lot, not sure where she picked that one up) I walked into her room and this is what I see:

Keep in mind that this picture was taken at 10 o'clock at night! Doesn't look one bit tired, does she?

I guess she was trying to take her pj's off, but she got her arm stuck on one side and behind her back. Then her legs were no longer in her shorts, they were bunched up to one side around her waist. I couldn't help but laugh and I called downstairs to Mike to bring up the camera. After I got her pj's back on, she finally settled down and went to sleep.

And yes, you'll notice that she is still in her crib! We're still working on it.
