Today is our 8th Wedding Anniversary, and I can't believe how fast the time goes! I thought I'd take a trip down memory lane, and give the story of "us".
Mike and I met at church when I was 12 and he was 13. He just moved here and was getting a lot of attention being the new cute boy in youth group! We became friends, he had his girlfriends, I had my boyfriends. But as we got older, we started becoming closer. In high school, he invited me to a couple of dances, just as friends, but I was beginning to notice a different feeling toward him. I was beginning to think that he felt the same way, but we were both a little shy on the subject. Finally, my senior year of high school, he asked me out on our first date. We went to the movies and saw "Forrest Gump".
4 years later, he picked me up to go out to dinner one night in January. He was opening the car door for me, and then dropped to the ground. I thought that he dropped the keys, so I bent down to pick them up for him. Half way down, I realized that he was on one knee with a ring! I was completely speechless, and I just began to scream "Yes!" I figured that one day we would get married, but had no idea when. A year later we had a beautiful wedding, and a terrific honeymoon in St. Lucia.
In these past 8 years, we bought our first house, had a beautiful baby girl, bought our second house, had another baby girl, awaiting the arrival of a baby boy, and made some wonderful friends. It hasn't all been easy, but as long as we focus on God and keep Him first in our marriage, we will get through the tough times.
Here is one of Mike's favorite pictures of our wedding day. A friend of ours works on cars, and he built an Austin Heeley. (sp?) We drove it away from the ceremony to the reception. So here I was, on 695, holding onto my veil and telling Mike not to go too fast or I'll lose it! I have another picture I wanted to post of the two of us, but I can't get my scanner to work right now.
